Adam and Beth's London Wedding
Below is the story of Adam and Beth's Summer wedding in Central London. I'm a Shropshire wedding photographer but I photograph weddings across the UK (and sometimes beyond) and this wedding was right in the heart of London! Storytelling Photography
I met up with Beth and the girls for the bridal preparations at a hotel in Mayfair. This is where the wedding story begins for me and it's such a fun time as the excitement builds before the wedding ceremony.
After spending time with the girls, a quick trip to the nearest tube station followed and I dashed off to St Paul's Cathedral to wait for Beth's arrival.
The Ceremony at St Paul's Cathdral
As soon as Beth arrived with the bridesmaids, we were quickly surrounded by tourists visiting St Paul's all wanting to get a snap of the bride!
Often wedding photographer's are restricted during the marriage ceremony as to when we can and can't take photographs and St Paul's was no exception unfortunately. I was under strict orders not to photograph any of the ceremony in the Crypt at all and was asked to sit at the back under the watchful eye of a member of staff!
We had planned in the run up to the wedding that we'd try and take a large group photograph of all the wedding guests on the steps of St Paul's. To be totally honest, I hadn't realised how busy the steps would be on a sunny Saturday in Summer - it was chaos!
Luckily, everyone realised what we were trying to accomplish and except for a couple of grumbles, everyone quite happily moved to one side so we could take the group shot.
Wedding Photojournalism
As a photojournalist I've covered many major news stories, but the atmosphere at St Pauls for the wedding was incredible! I turned round and there was a sea of visitors watching and taking photographs on their mobile phones and once I moved to one side, there was a charge towards Adam and Beth as the tourists wanted a 'selfie' with the newlyweds!
Off to the Reception at Dartmouth House in Mayfair
We had a drive through Central London to get to Dartmouth House for the reception - it was a fun journey as I held on to the back of the classic double decker bus!
The reception made some lovely photographs and once the evening reception began everyone was in the mood for a party.... and what a party it was!
Some Really Kind Words From the Bride & Groom
When Adam and Beth received their photographs a couple of weeks after the wedding, they sent me this lovely message below.
"Words cannot even describe how happy we are with the photos. I think you captured every special and funny moment of the day. We couldn't ask for more. They are beyond perfect. I think I'm going to spend the whole day today (my birthday) constantly looking over and over.
You have an incredible talent and it's clear to see this is every single shot. I cannot thank you enough. Best birthday present ever!"
