Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your style?

My wedding photography could be described as wedding photojournalism, reportage wedding photography or documentary wedding photography. Whatever you wish to call it, essentially it's the art of storytelling through images.

A wedding day is an amazing day to capture and my fifteen years experience working as a photojournalist on one of the nation's largest newspapers gives me a unique approach to photographing a wedding day. The experience of covering the big news stories, the sports events and making sure I get the shots that tell the story - every time!

My documentary approach will allow you to enjoy every moment of your wedding day with the minimum of interruption. I will photograph the fun and touching moments as they happen, the kind of moments that can't be posed or set up. Most of the time you will be unaware that I'm there as I blend in amongst your guests, working quietly taking the photographs that you can see in my wedding portfolio

I'm not the kind of photographer that will ask you to jump in the air, say cheese and take lots of photographs taken at bizarre angles, my style is about telling the authentic story of your wedding day.

You're a Shropshire wedding photographer but will you photograph my wedding in...

Absolutely! I photograph weddings across the UK. During the past year I've photographed several weddings in London, Scotland and Wales and I also photograph destination weddings too. Travel costs are included for weddings in mainland UK but overnight accommodation may be required for weddings that are more than 150 miles away.

For destination weddings, please get in touch for a quote based on your requirements.

Are you insured?

As a full-time professional photographer and I have full public liability and private indemnity insurance. A little extra reassurance... I use the latest professional Nikon digital cameras and I have back up camera bodies and lenses in case they are needed.

Will it be you that photographs our wedding and what happens if you're ill?

The short answer is yes! I work alone (rather than with another photographer) so I can concentrate on producing the best possible photographs of your day. I work unobtrusively and I blend into the background so you will hardly know that I am there.

You'll be pleased to hear that I've never missed a wedding through illness. If the unthinkable were to happen, I have a small network of trusted photographers that work in documentary style whom I could call upon.

Will you take any group photographs?

Absolutely! I understand that a wedding is one of those rare occasions that family and friends get together and some group photographs may be wanted. I would recommend that these are kept to a manageable number and it helps speed things up if an usher or two can be on hand to help round up the guests for the group photographs.

I would suggest a maximum of about six group shots and I will work quickly taking these so you can get back to your guests and family.

If you don't want any posed photographs, I'm happy to photograph your day in pure documentary style.

When will my photographs be ready?

Your wedding photographs will be uploaded to a password protected gallery on my website approximately three weeks after your wedding (during busy periods it may take a little longer) and your USB stick will follow a few days later.

How many photographs will we get?

You will receive about 400 photographs. Each image is edited in black and white and the majority will also be edited in colour too. I edit all the images myself and work on every image separately.

How do we book you to photograph our wedding?

A booking is secured once I've received a completed booking form and the deposit payment. The balance is payable 14 days before your wedding. I often book popular dates in Spring and Summer many months in advance, so the sooner you get in touch the better chance that I'll be available to photograph your wedding.
