My documentary wedding photography has been heavily influenced by my career as a news and sports photographer. My career for fifteen years where storytelling was central to my work. This gallery is just a very small selection of my press photography prior to focusing on wedding photography. Hopefully it will give you a little insight into the kind of work and assignments I covered as a photojournalist before becoming a Shropshire based wedding photographer.
I met some great people and had a few scares and experiences along the way but they have been invaluable in my documentary approach to wedding photography. Every story or event I've ever covered has been unique, as is each wedding I photograph. It's my ability to observe and react in every conceivable situation and always expect the unexpected.
It's about being in the right place at the right time, every time, to photograph the moments that tell the story of your wedding day.
Many traditional wedding photographers are calling themselves wedding photojournalists at the moment. Am I just calling myself a wedding photojournalist because it sounds good or to follow the latest trend? To be honest, I don't really know if I'm a wedding photojournalist or not! I know I'm definitely a photojournalist that photographs weddings though!
